Could Max be a characters from Treasure Island book?

At first I thought that Max would be revealed to be Mary Read and later go under disguise as Mark Read with Anne Bonny and Jack Rackham and ride the seas with them but now I think that Max will become the wife of (John) Silver that is never seen in Treasure Island.

Treasure Island quote: Silver is married to a woman of African descent, whom he trusts to manage his business affairs in his absence and to liquidate his Bristol assets when his actions make it impossible for him to go home. He confides in his fellow pirates, that he and his wife plan to rendezvous after the voyage to Skeleton Island is complete and Flint's treasure is recovered, at which point Silver will retire to a life of luxury.

Both, Max & John are very resourceful, crafty, cunning and clever. They work well together and have a great rapport especially when their scheming together and she is the closet person that he can "trust" among the other characters on the show. What do you think?

Aye, tis possible so it be. In some parts of the seafaring world, particularly Madagascar, white sailors did take black wives.

Max is so Mary Reed with her ties to Anne Bonney and Jack Rackham it's not funny. i had her pegged in season one and my only conern is how she is not dead/knocked up yet per her history.

mary read seems like the most obvious solution (esp given the name similarity) and i would definitely love for her to turn pirate, but silver's wife – damn, that would be on a whole different level. given that black sails will end after season four (or so i've read), i don't believe she'll change places much; she's always been in nassau, and it would be strange for her to take such a 180 in just one season - unless they'll have an open ending for jack, anne and max. there's one parallel i remember that i like very much in this context:

max: "in some places, they would call me a queen."

and silver is being set up as "king" of nassau. eeh i'd love this a lot.

now, madi could also be silver's wife. they had interesting, personal interactions last season, but eh. max. i like max more.

Nah, I don't think she is Mary Read. Mary Read was renowned for both her modesty, and her ferocity, as she insisted on marrying both the men in her life before sleeping with them and protesting very strongly against the fornication charge at her trial, it would be quite a disservice to her character to turn her into a prostitute when she was very much a 1700s woman in her ideas of sex and modesty.

Considering that Mary Read was raised as a boy for inheritance reasons, served in both the army and Navy (if memory serves) and fought a duel with a pirate to protect her husband, to get rid of that extraordinary backstory in exchange for 'she was a prostitute and had to be rescued from rape by Bonny' would be such a terrible decision.

I wish Read as per her historical character was in it though, because she is way too underused.

I think Max represents Mary Read in her relationship with Ann Bonny & Jack Rackham.

When they are caught and to be hung in England and Ann & Mary pleade with their bellies, that they are pregnant, is Mary Read's unborn baby Jack Rackham's also? (The threesome scenes...Max, Ann & Jack)

Max is nobody. Mary Reed is the "young boy" Calico Jack picks up at the end of episode XXXVIII....just so we're clear.

Max is simply a character derived from the studio at Starz, so you'll notice that her whole role and purpose in the series is to provide added (and unnecessary, i might add) drama. Anything and everything she has done, any other character could have done.
