An Accountant is someone whose job it is to keep, inspect and analyze financial account. There are various titles related to specific tasks for an accountant.
A Bookkeeper is someone who records the day-to-day financial transactions of a business.
A Purser is the shipboard officer overseeing the handling of the accounts and cargo. The Purser was the officer responsible for all administrative duties and ship's supplies, such as food and drink, clothing, bedding, candles. Pirate vessels also carried pursers, who managed the distribution of shares and the keeping of the ship's maintenance account.
