The Ambush in Nassau was an attempt by Noonan to force Charles Vane to return Max to him.

History[]

Background[]

After her deal with Charles Vane and Jack Rackham went askew, Max attempted to flee. However, she was spotted by Anne Bonny and kidnapped. The crew of the Ranger kept her in captivity and repeatedly raped her after they learned that Rackham lost the 5000 pieces worth of pearls of the crew’s money trying to pursue the deal. When Eleanor Guthrie found out, she put a black mark on Vane, and told his crew they could join Flint or remain with Vane and be banned from buying or selling anything on the island. All but a handful desert Vane, but Max stays behind, saying she owes them for the money she lost them.

Noonan tells Jack that he wants Max back, for every night she isn’t at the Inn costs him money. Jack attempts to explain the situation regarding the lost money, but Noonan is insistent. Anne then mutters that if Noonan wants Max back he should try and take her himself. Noonan notes that there are fewer men outside Vane’s tent than there were, and that he might try soon.

The Ambush[]

Vane wanders the streets of Nassau in an opium haze, following a hallucination of Albinus. He turns down an alley and ends up at a dead end, but is beaten by Noonan’s henchmen. Noonan remarks that Eleanor should have just killed him, for that would have been kinder. He demands Max back, but Vane vomits all over Noonan’s shoes. Noonan orders his man to put Vane out of his misery. The man tries to shoot Vane in the head but the pistol misfires. Vane then kills the two henchmen and stabs Noonan in the leg. Noonan tries to offer him a 50% stake in the Inn, but Vane breaks his neck and kills him.

Aftermath[]

Jack Rackham leads Charles Vane and Anne Bonny in attempting to take ownership of the Inn so they can gain an income. He convinces Mrs. Mapleton to let them take ownership by increasing her salary from 3% of gross to 40. They lie and say Noonan decided to make for Port Royal, but this known to be a lie.
