The Appraiser is an appraiser in the service of a Wealthy Merchant from St. Kitts. He helps oversee the transaction between the Merchant and Max, exchanging black pearls for gold from the Urca de Lima prize.

Season Three[]
The Appraiser and the Wealthy Merchant meet with Max and Anne Bonny to exchange pearls for gold from the Urca de Lima prize. While the Merchant is entertained by prostitutes, the Appraiser and his men work on estimating the value of the gold and the pearls. When it is done, the Appraiser announces that they will be exchanging 46, 121 pieces of eight for 316 black pearls. He says that the method of their figuring is recorded if either party wishes to see it, and Max takes him up on his offer. After looking them over, she says that they are acceptable and that the deal is concluded.
