Benjamin Hornigold’s Chair is a prized possession of the pirate captain and Steward of Fort Nassau, Benjamin Hornigold.
History[]
Background[]
The chair once sat in the Plymouth office of Sir Francis Drake. At some point, Benjamin Hornigold took a prize off the coast of Boston, losing six men in the fight. He took the chair for himself, and when he became the Steward of the Fort, he placed the chair in a tower and would sit there and survey the town[1].
Season One[]
When Gates meets with Captain Hornigold in the fort to discuss using Hornigold’s ship and crew as consort in the hunt for the Urca de Lima, he complains about having to climb all those stairs just to see Hornigold sitting in his chair. Hornigold then asks if his crewman, Phillip, if he knows how Hornigold got his chair. Hornigold then explains the chair’s history and jokingly orders Phillip to shoot Gates if he touches the chair[1].
When Charles Vane returns to Nassau, he and his new crew of Baymen assault Fort Nassau and kill Hornigold’s garrison, the chair is knocked over. After Vane is able to negotiate with Eleanor Guthrie to take over control over the fort and take Hornigold’s seat on her new Consortium, he goes up to the tower and picks the chair up and sits in it, pleased with the outcome[2].
Season Two[]
It is revealed that Vane has moved the chair to his bedchamber in one of the fort’s buildings[3]. After Flint's bombardment of Nassau it is seen knocked over[4].
