History[]
Background[]
Bridgetown was first settled by 65 English settlers in 1628. Each settler was granted 100 acres on the northern side of the Careenage waterway, while the southern was given to the Earl of Carlisle.
Season Three[]
After the Sack of Charles Town, Flint declares that any magistrate in the New World who hangs men for piracy will be visited by Flint. The magistrate in Bridgetown does so, and as a result the town is sacked by Flint and the magistrate killed. Flint later brings this up to Hazzard, the magistrate of Bath, when Flint visits him[1].
Season Four[]
The pirate-Maroon alliance discusses attacking St. Ann’s Bay as a first strike. The New England Pirate Captain believes that this will starve Bridgetown, who would not last a month. The Jamaican Maroon Chief adds that the rest of Barbados has fallen to a slave revolt. Another Maroon Chief believes he can muster seven or eight hundred men in Bridgetown to move to the mainland. Flint believes if they recruit one out of slave out of every three in the rest of Barbados. they’d have 1,200 men they could land anywhere they chose, with ships to support their landing[2].
