The Charles Town Fleet is a small fleet of three ships that defends the city ofCharles Town and patrols the area around it.
History[]
Season Two[]
When the Spanish Man O’ War arrives in Charles Town, the fleet deploys. Mr. Scott asksFlint if the ships have clearance to fire, and Flint says that they won’t as long as the pirates are out of range of the Battery, so Flint orders them to remain far enough away that they won’t be deemed a threat. A small contingent of boats outfitted with swivel guns approaches and ask for Captain Vane and Abigail Ashe. Flint replies that he is not Vane and has no demands, only a request to meet with Lord Ashe. Flint, Miranda Barlow and Abigail are then escorted to the shore[1].
After Vane’s men capture Flint’s ship, the Boat Captain leads his contingent of boats over to the Spanish Man O’ War again. He announces that Flint has been arrested and will be tried and executed. The pirates have until the trial’s end to flee, or their ship will be seized or sunk[2].
Vane takes a contingent of men to Charles Town to free Flint after his arrest and is able to evade the fleet. His remaining men stay on the Man O’ War, guarding the prisoners from Flint’s crew. Yardley asks Jenks what their odds of running are. Jenks tells him that shorthanded as they are, their odds against two ships would be even. Against three trained hunters however, Jenks says they are a dozen skilled men short of having any prayer of survival. When Vane’s men take the Battery, they fire the fort’s cannons on the city and on the fleet. The ships start scrambling. At the same time,Billy Bones leads his men in overpowering their captors. After Vane’s men aboard the ship are subdued, Scott points out that if the fleet flanks them, they’ll have the drop on the pirates. Billy orders his men to fire on the fleet, sinking it. After Vane and his men return with Flint, they turn their guns on the rest of Charles Town[3].
Ships[]
The fleet consists of three brigs, each outfitted with approximately 10 guns. The fleet also has several longboats outfitted with swivel guns in the bow.
Personnel[]
The fleet is manned and crewed by the Charles Town Militia. They are considered well trained and skilled.
