The Eleanor Impersonator is an actor portraying Eleanor Guthrie in a play that parodies her trial.

Biography[]

Background[]

To cater to the pirates after taking ownership of the Tavern, Max puts on a play that crudely parodies Eleanor Guthrie’s trial. The Eleanor Impersonator is one of three characters, the others being a Mock Judge and a Death Figure. The Eleanor Impersonator wears a wig and Eleanor’s old clothes.

Season Three[]

Mr. Scott watches the play being put on in the Tavern. In the final part of the play, the Mock Judge says that the evidence has been delivered, the accused measured, and that it is time time to talk about judgement. He then asks the Eleanor Impersonator if he (Eleanor is played by a man) has anything to say in his defense. The Eleanor Impersonator answers that he has one regret, for while he let the pirates of Nassau fill his pockets with coin, he never had the opportunity to let them fill him with anything else.

The Judge then says that Eleanor has been found guilty of all her crimes, for which the sentence is death. The Death Figure then descends the stairs, and approaches Eleanor. She then kisses the Eleanor Impersonator, who falls to the ground dead. At the conclusion of the play, the three actors bow to the audience’s applause.
