Biography[]

Season Two[]

Esther observes Jack Rackham and Augustus Featherstone meeting with Max in the Inn behind closed doors. She then goes to a Butcher in Nassau and asks to see the "lady of the house." The Butcher, slaughtering a pig, tells Esther that she is occupied. Esther then tells him to tell her that she comes bearing "news from home," telling him to use those exact words. The Butcher leaves and returns with Mrs. Mapleton.

Esther informs Mapleton of the meeting, saying that  Featherstone came and left looking rather flustered. Mapleton asks her if she was able to make out their words and Esther answers that she was unable. Esther adds that if she'd gone any closer she fears she would have been found out. Esther says that she is eternally indebted to Mapleton for Mapleton's kind treatment of her when she oversaw the Inn, but asks that she refrain from asking Esther to continue spying. Mapleton replies that it is all for a good cause and pays her. Esther points out that Mapleton hasn't even told her the reason for all this spying, or who is purchasing the information. Mapleton then pays her extra and sends her off.

Quotes[]

“Good morning, dear. What do you have for me?”

“The quartermaster, Featherstone, met with Max and Rackham behind closed doors again. Entered in a huff, left in a huff.”

“Could you make out their words?”

“No, and I fear if I pressed any closer, they'd have found me out. Ma'am, you know I am eternally in your debt for how you treated me when you oversaw the inn, but please don't ask me to delve into this any further.”

“It's all for a good cause, rest assured.”

“You haven't even told me what this is all in service of. Who the information's being purchased for.”
