Biography[]
Season Two[]
It is unclear whether or not the Messenger was part of the original Walrus crew or if he was part of the Royal Lion crew that combined under the joint captaincy of Flint and Benjamin Hornigold to oust Charles Vane from Fort Nassau.
The Messenger is sent to tell Vane that Flint and Hornigold have anchored their ship fully outside the fort’s field of fire, and that Vane has until sunrise the next day to vacate the fort or the attack will be unleashed. As the Messenger relays this message, Vane throws a glass bottle at the wall nearby in anger. He then tersely orders the frightened messenger to continue. The Messenger, repeating Flint’s words, says that if Vane fails to meet the deadline, Flint will respond swiftly and definitively. Furthermore, due to the fact that the Spanish Man O’ War is fully out of range of the fort’s guns, their assault will continue unhindered until Vane and his men are rendered fully incapacitated. The Messenger concludes by saying that the message is signed by Captain James Flint. Vane then orders that the Messenger be put somewhere safe so that he can deliver Vane’s response to Flint.
When Eleanor Guthrie goes to the ship to try and prevent the battle from happening, the Messenger accompanies her and returns to the crew.
Quotes[]
"If you fail to meet these demands, if you remain when the deadline arrives, I will respond swiftly and definitively. And as I currently sit fully outside your means of retaliation, this response will continue unabated until you, your men, and that structure are rendered fully incapacitated. Until dawn, Captain James Flint."
