Biography[]

Background[]

After the events of Charles Town, Flint proclaimed that any magistrate in the New World  that hanged men for piracy, would be visited by Flint and his men. Despite hearing this, and of the many magistrates already killed at Flint’s hand, Hazzard hanged three men in his square for piracy.

Season Three[]

Flint and his men attack Hazzard’s colony under the cover of darkness, burning buildings and killing all who stand in their path. Flint cuts his way through the colonial regulars to Hazzard’s residence. When Flint kicks down the door to Hazzard’s bedroom, he finds Hazzard stoically waiting for him and Mrs. Hazzard praying.

Hazzard and his wife awaiting Flint's judgement.

Flint asks Hazzard why he hanged those men in his square after hearing of the fate of the magistrates of Bridgetown, Saint Kitts , Martinique and Nevis. Hazzard replies bravely that had he let his fear of Flint prevent him from enforcing the law, then civilization in his colony would have died. He continues to say that he knows most of the other men Flint visited were corrupt, dishonest men. He believed despite all he’d heard about Flint, Flint could tell the difference, that Hazzard was an honest man. Flint then shoots Hazzard in the chest, killing him. Hazzard’s wife then sobs in despair, before being killed by Flint as well. Flint then stares at their bodies, hallucinating Miranda Barlow’s body in the place of Mrs. Hazzard’s. The pirates set the rest of the colony on fire before returning to the Walrus

Quotes[]

"If I didn't, if I let my fear of you prevent me from enforcing the law, then civilization in this place is dead. I also know that most of those other magistrates you visited, they were corrupt men, dishonest men. I wagered that despite all I'd heard about you, your mercilessness, your cruelty, that you could tell the difference. That you could see that I was an honest man." - Hazzard's last words to Flint in XIX.
