Biography[]
Season Three[]
After the death of Dufresne at the hands of John Silver, the Boatswain becomes Hornigold's second. Hornigold decides to sail towards the last position the Walrus was sighted after Eleanor Guthrie tells him that Flint might be planning to ambush Governor Woodes Rogers' caravan, which is transporting the Urca cache and the prisoner Jack Rackham. The Orion finds the position of the Walrus. Silver sees the approaching ship and orders the Walrus to move towards the beach where they agreed to pick up Flint and the cache. After Flint, Jack, Anne Bonny and the cache are retrieved, the pirates sail towards the Maroon Island, beginning the chase[1].
The Orion pursues the Walrus through the night to the Maroon Island. To avoid being attacked while ferrying the men ashore, the pirates perform a risky maneuver where they rapidly turn the ship perpendicular to the Orion in shallow water. They then open their gunports. Hornigold gives the order to break off the pursuit, which the Boatswain questions. Hornigold replies that he does not want to sail right into the pirates' broadside. He gives the order to deploy men on to the beach where they'll be out of range of the Walrus' cannons and engage the pirates in the jungle. Before he finishes his order however, he sees a massive army of Maroons emerge from the jungle. Hornigold orders them to turn back for Nassau. Later, the Boatswain stands near his captain at the execution of Charles Vane in Nassau's square[2].
The Orion sails with the governor's navy to the Maroon Island. While Hornigold leads his militia as well as the Redcoats on the ground with Major Rollins, the Boatswain is left behind with a skeleton crew to man the Orion's guns. A fleet appears on the horizon, led by Edward Teach and Jack Rackham, flying the black. As the two fleets exchange cannonfire, Teach steers the Revenge towards Chamberlain's flagship. Chamberlain orders that the larboard batteries concentrate their fire on Teach's ship and for orders to be passes down to the Orion to do the same. As the Boatswain gives orders to his gun crews, he looks behind him and sees Anne Bonny dispatching a member of his crew. Frozen, he watches as his crew is slaughtered before a pirate kills him with an axe to the face[3].
