After the death of Anne, James Stuart and his Jacobite supporters led an uprising. His supporters were largely Scottish, but it was defeated and George I ascended the throne.
Season One[]
Gates asks Benjamin Hornigold if he’s heard any news from his contacts in Edinburgh. Hornigold says that last he heard, James had fled to France and was called the Pretender now. He adds that he promised his men if they stayed with him, they’d be soldiers again, part of a rebel navy fighting a war to restore a rightful king.
