Biography[]
Background []
DuBois served on the crew of the Walrus, but was killed in his first boarding.
Season One[]
After Dufresne proves Billy Bones’ earlier promise that no one on their crew died in their first boarding, Billy mentions DuBois and several others, showing that he was lying all along in order to encourage Dufresne. Dufresne tells Billy that he appreciated the lie[1].
Quotes[]
"You said no man ever died his first time over the side, but you forgot about Tom Jameson, boatswain's mate, about two years back."
"That's right. Also Christian Thoms, Will Robbins, Jean DuBois, that Portuguese guy with the lisp."
- Dufresne and Billy Bones in V.
Trivia[]
- Based on his given and surname, the character is likely French, or at least of French origin.
- Jean Dubois was also the name of the chief surgeon aboard La Concorde, the French ship that became the flagship of Edward Teach, the Queen Anne's Revenge. Teach released the bulk of the French crew, save for Dubois and the two other surgeons and a carpenter and a cook[2].
