Major Rollins of the British Army with privateer Captain Benjamin Hornigold.
Major is a military rank which is used by both the British Army and Royal Marines. The rank is superior to captain, and subordinate to lieutenant colonel. It is the most junior of field officer ranks. They typically lead detachments of two or more companies split from the main body.
Majors Andrews and Rollins were among the officers of the 700 British Regulars under the command of Governor Woodes Rogers. Rollins notably led that force at the Battle of the Maroon Island, where he was killed.
