Biography[]
Season Two[]
The Merchant Captain's ship is spotted while she is inbound from Kingston and assumed to be sugar merchants. The pirates then hail his ship and raise the black, prompting him to surrender. Dufresne then leads the vanguard aboard, and the merchant crew is consolidated in the well deck, guarded by pirates. The Captain and a few officers remain on the quarterdeck. Dufresne tells him he was wise not to fight, and asks if there are any men waiting below. The Captain tells him that it is as he sees it. Dufresne then orders his men to sweep the hold and start with the bow.

The Merchant Captain shortly before signaling his crew to attack.
While this is happening, Flint tells John Silver that they are entering the most dangerous part of taking a prize. The Captain's mind is drowning in questions. Flint surmises that he is wondering how he will explain to his proprietors that he gave up their goods without a fight, and asking himself what kind of man he is. The Captain eventually asks Dufresne if he is Captain Flint. Dufresne assures him that he does not want to test the pirates, all but giving the Captain his answer. The Captain then whistles, signaling his crew to attack. Joji, who had been standing behind him, cuts him down with a single swing of his shortsword, before joining the fray on the main deck. His crew kill a significant amount of pirates, forcing them to return to their ship. Dufresne attempts to order muskets to the rigging to suppress the sailors' front line, but De Groot insists that they have lost the day. Logan asks why they're listening to Dufresne and De Groot says it's because he's in charge but Logan screams that no one is in charge of the ship.
Flint then walks up to them and says they need to sink the merchant vessel, for if any of them survive, no one will surrender to their flag ever again. Flint orders them to cut themselves loose and Logan repeats the order, Joji and other pirates work on cutting the ropes holding the ships together. Flint then orders the gun crews to make ready, and they pause for a moment before Joshua repeats the order. Flint orders them to fire, and they destroy the merchant ship, killing the entire crew.
