Anstey was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. He was schooled at a variet of places, including the Rudolf Steiner School in Chambi-sur-Montreux, Switzerland and he received his drama training at De Leon Drama School in Richmond, Surrey, England. He has two daughters, Amy and Jay, both of whom work in the entertainment industry[1].

Anstey's television credits include appearances in Snitch, Andries Plak, Diamonds, The Prisoner and Warrior. He appeared in episode IX of Black Sails as the captain of an English Merchant Ship that has the misfortune of encountering the Walrus Crew.
