History[]
Background[]
The Spanish have a trade route running across the Pacific Ocean from Acapulco in Mexico to Manila in the Philippines.
During Queen Anne’s War, Woodes Rogers attacked a Manila Galleon, Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación y Desengaño, off the coast of Mexico. In the ensuing battle, he was permanently scarred and his brother was killed. He later slaughtered the Spanish crew except one man in revenge and dropped the ship off in Acapulco.
Rogers later wrote a book called Voyage Round the World, detailing his privateering exploits in the Pacific during the war.
Season Three[]
Woodes Rogers tells Eleanor Guthrie most of the story about how he got his scar and the death of his brother.
Season Four[]
Woodes Rogers tells Captain Berringer that after he finished slaughtering the crew of the galleon, he returned the ship and her one surviving crew member to Acapulco.
