The Colony of Rhode Island is a colony of the British Empire on the east coast of North America. The capital is the city of Providence.

Geography[]

The colony of Rhode Island has border disputes with several neighboring colonies. They have a dispute with Connecticut over the Pawcatuck and Ashway Rivers to the west, and similar issued with Massachusetts to the north and west. The colony of Rhode Island includes several islands.

People[]

The colony was founded by religious dissenters and passed extremely progressive laws for the time, such as the abolition of slavery, debt imprisonment and witchcraft trials. They did prosper from the slave trade however, by distilling rum using sugar grown by African slaves in the West Indies.

The major industries of the colony are diary farming, fishing, lumber, shipbuilding and the  aforementioned rum distillation.

History[]

Background[]

In1636, Roger Williams, a Puritan theologist, was exiled from the Massachusetts Bay Colony. He settled on land provided by Narragansett Indians. He and his followers agreed on an egalitarian constitution. They founded the Providence Planation (plantation being a synonym for colony or settlement). Slavery was outlawed in the colony.

In 1637, another group of Massachusetts dissenters settled Rhode Island, which was then called Aquidneck Island, and founded a number of settlements.

Season Two[]

Logan , despite being forbidden from doing so, goes to the Inn to see his favorite prostitute, Charlotte, while the crew awaits orders on the beach. After he and Charlotte are killed by Anne Bonny, John Silver discovers the scene. To prevent reprisals against Max , he fabricates a story that they ran away together to Providence, where Logan has a brother.

Mrs. Mapleton brings up the rumor that Logan and Charlotte fled to Providence to Eleanor Guthrie, but reveals that she suspects foul play as Charlotte entrusted her savings to Mapleton and hadn't collected them.
