Santo Domingo is a large port city on the island of Hispaniola and capital of the Spanish colony of the same name.

Background[]
Christopher Columbus arrived on the island in 1492. In 1495, the settlement was officially named Santo Domingo. It became known as the “Gateway to the Caribbean” and the most important town in Hispaniola.

The Guthrie Trading Company in Nassau participates in the sloop trade with Havana and Santo Domingo, but it will not be enough to sustain the fencing operation run by Eleanor and Mr. Scott once the Guthrie Trading Company stops sending supply ships.
