The Straight Arrow was the ship of Captain Hallendale and his crew. While they were not considered a very formidable crew, their ship was viewed in more favorable terms. The ship was a standard three masted vessel, with a number of cannons.
The crew mutinied and marooned their captain in his cabin after being offered pardons by Benjamin Hornigold. The ship was left as bait to lure pirates into Hornigold's trap.
History[]
Season Two[]
Hallendale and his crew were supposed to manage the capture of the Good Fortune. As the ship was supposed to surrender at any sign of trouble, Eleanor Guthrie gave the lead to this crew as they are reliable enough to manage the ship's surrender. Thus, Eleanor was troubled when she learned that the entire crew of the prize ship was slaughtered by Ned Low and went to confront Max about it[1].
Season Three[]
The ship is found at anchor with its sails furled and banner raised by the crew of the Walrus. Flint thinks that investigating is not worth it, as the captain and its crew are weak and that there is a chance that the ship seems abandoned because all the crew members are dying of plague. At John Silver's behest, they investigate anyway. Flint and Billy Bones lead the vanguard aboard to find the ship empty of any living beings besides rats scavenging the food supplies. The door to the captain's cabin is found barricaded, and inside Hallendale is found dead, having committed suicide after going insane due to his consumption of seawater. After Hornigold's ship is spotted, the Walrus makes a hasty retreat to try and avoid capture, leaving the Straight Arrow at anchor[2].
Flint has a dream where he is back on the Straight Arrow, where he is alone. Miranda Barlow then climbs over the side, soaking wet, with the bullet wound in her head. He then goes into the cabin, where he sees Hallendale's body. They continue belowdecks. As he follows her, he sees a mysterious figure go even further into the bowels of the ship. As he gazes down into the black hole, Miranda’s hand grabs his shoulder, and he is woken up by Billy Bones[3].
While the ship and crew are becalmed and starving in the Doldrums, Silver challenges Flint's idea to feed some of the crew (those he deems essential) and not others. Flint threatens to counter his challenge by reminding the crew that they are where they are because Silver failed to remind the crew of the dangers involved in investigating the Straight Arrow[4].

"Do you know Captain Hallendale of the Straight Arrow? Not terribly strong or daring, but knows how to manage a prize, reliable in that way."
- Eleanor to Max, Jack and Anne (IX).
"Even Hallendale isn't stupid enough to leave a ship like that behind. He could've sailed it back to Nassau with a few dozen men."
"Less."
