Vernon was a pirate captain of Nassau whose crew was hired to help rebuild Fort Nassau.

Season Three[]
Vernon and his crew were hired by Jack Rackham to help rebuild the fort and were paid for their labor with the gold from the Urca de Lima prize. However, like all the other crews that Jack hired, they demanded more and more in wages and refused to work when ordered. Eventually they quit the project.
Mr. Scott tells Max and Anne Bonny that there has been almost no work on restoring the fort in the two weeks since Vernon's crew walked off the site.
