The Wealthy Merchant is the son of the richest man in St. Kitts

Biography[]

Background[]

It is widely said that the Merchant swindled his partner out of their trading company and stole it all for himself.

Season Three[]

The Merchant is approached by Max and Anne Bonny to trade their Spanish gold for more easily transportable commodities. They meet on New Providence Island. While they make the exchanges, the Merchant is entertained by two prostitutes fellating him. Once they are done, Max says he hopes he enjoys their hospitality.  His Appraiser  says that they are ready to exchange gems and pearls for 46,121 pieces of eight and Max asks to see the method of their figuring.

The Merchant remarks that Max is a "literate Negress" and wonders if there is no end to the surprises Nassau has to offer. Anne takes offense at this but Max calms her down. The Merchant says he thinks that Max is from slave stock. Max ignores him and declares the accounts acceptable. The Merchant says when the Governor arrives, he will accept Max into his service. Max asks what he means, and he says he thought that they were preparing to run off with their ill-gotten gains before the new regime arrived. The Merchant realizes that they didn't know and laughs.

"You are disposing of your treasury of ill-gotten plunder so you might leave this place before the new regime arrives. That's what I thought this was all about in the first place. You don't know, do you?"

About the Wealthy Merchant[]

"Son of the wealthiest man in St. Kitts, they say. Also say he f*cked his partner out of their trading company. Stole it all. A world where he's the civilized one and we're the savages is a world I'm never gonna f*ckin' understand."Anne Bonny to Max in XXI.
