Woodes Rogers owned three unnamed sloops that formed part of his second fleet

History[]

Background[]

After Commodore Peter Chamberlain returns to England with the bulk of his first fleet, Rogers acquires these sloops in order to defend Nassau from the pirates.

Billy Bones later informs Flint that Nassau is defended by five two masted vessels before the Pirate Fleet invades Nassau.

Season Four[]

The RevengeWalrusDefiant and the Eagle form the pirate invasion fleet. They enter the harbor flying false colors and the Revenge moves to attack the seemingly defenseless Fort Nassau. The other three pirate ships move further into the harbor in order to land their troops. Rogers' fleet of sloops remain at anchor, making Flint uneasy. He orders the Eagle to target her larboard batteries at the sloops to keep them at bay. However, the latter three pirate ships are all grounded on hulks sunk in the bay by Rogers. The Fort then begins firing on the pirates. Flint gives the order to abandon ship, and the pirates attempt to flee in longboats. Rogers then orders for the sloops to engage the pirates. The Lion and the Gloucestershire harass the pirates' longboats. The Revenge then retreats. Berringer asks for permission to signal the three remaining sloops to pursue Teach, believing their superior numbers will win the day.

Eps402-1

The three sloops pursue Teach. With his ship's rig damaged and the sloops too nimble to maneuver a broadside on, Teach allows himself to be boarded. The fight is brutal, but the Redcoats are defeated. Many are killed and 61 taken prisoner. Teach returns to Nassau and blockades the harbor. He sends one of the sloops drifting into the harbor, festooned with the corpses of its crew. Attached is a message proclaiming his intention to blockade the harbor unless Eleanor Guthrie is delivered to him.

After the Rogers-backed Spanish Sack of Nassau, Rogers sends a sloop to the Maroon Island to deliver the news that Madi  is alive and is his captive and he demands the cache of gems in exchange for her release. It is unknown if this is the Gloucestershire or one the sloop that was sent drifitng into the harbor.
